DIACAP certification is an intensive requirement that validates visibility and control for the secure operation of all information technology systems that operate on a DoD network. It ensures that risk management is applied to information systems within the DoD in order to protect personal privacy, the information environment, and other missions reliant upon shared information. Full DIACAP certification requires that a complete security system receive the recommendation of a certification authority, pass the review of a designated approval authority and be tested as a comprehensive, integrated solutions package before becoming eligible to receive authorization to operate as part of a DoD network.
