Collaboration Elevates the Exploration of Cinema with Panasonic’s Audio-Visual Solutions

October 20, 2021 - Newark, NJ – Panasonic System Solutions Company of North America (PSSNA), Division of Panasonic Corporation of North America ("Panasonic") today announced their collaboration with the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, taking visitors on an immersive exploration of cinema utilizing a wide range of Panasonic audio visual (AV) solutions. The Academy Museum, which opened its doors to the public on September 30, 2021, features a wide range of AV solutions from Panasonic, including projectors, lenses, and professional displays to create one-of-a-kind experiences, while learning about and interacting with film.

"We’re excited to collaborate with the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures to help create a compelling experience commemorating the past, present and future of movies and filmmaking. AV technology is something filmmakers use every day and improving that experience is very important. This is the perfect opportunity to make visitors feel like they’re a part of the movies with our AV solutions," said John Baisley, Senior Vice President at Panasonic System Solutions Company of North America. "Our hope is that these experiences change the way guests experience these fascinating journeys, offering a deep look at films, how they’re made and what they mean to society."

The extensive installation of Panasonic AV equipment showcases well-known filmmakers and their beloved movies, alongside iconic film props and costumes, creating a uniquely interactive experience immersing guests in the broad world of film. To illustrate the impressive visual effects used in epic adventure movies like Jurassic Park and Avatar, the museum leverages Panasonic’s TH-55EQ1U 4K resolution digital displays to deliver exceptional image quality. Supported by an expansive combination of Panasonic laser projectors, including the PT-MZ16KL 3LCD projector and PT-RZ120KU 1-Chip DLP® laser projector, the museum relies on these solutions for bright and vivid picture quality and accurate color representation to captivate guests in a visually engaging experience. Additionally, the museum uses a variety of Panasonic ultra-short throw lenses, which allow visitors to approach the projected images without casting a shadow for an unobstructed view in exhibits like Invented Worlds and Dreamscape. Diving into the history of cinema, Panasonic’s AV solutions help celebrate significant films and iconic figures such as Citizen Kane and Bruce Lee by projecting memorable movie scenes. Additionally, projections in the Academy Awards History gallery highlight important Oscar moments. Panasonic AV equipment also shines a light on the moviemaking process from the technological transition of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz from sepia to technicolor, as well as casting, performance, glamour shots and costume design.

"This museum has been a long time in the making, and we’re pleased to have collaborated with Panasonic in bringing our vision of creating a place where visitors can directly connect with the movies they love to life," said Brendan Connell, Jr., Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. "As audio and video are incredibly critical components to film, it was key for us to work with Panasonic, an industry leader in audio and video solutions, to make sure we’re giving our visitors an unforgettable experience. We’re proud to open our museum doors and welcome the world to celebrate movies and filmmaking in a way they can’t anywhere else."
