The System Provides Specific Listeners with Extra Audio Support, Whether by Increased Amplification or Tailored for a Tour Group Activity
SAN FERNANDO, Calif., May 31, 2011 – Califone® International, Inc. (www.califone.com), a leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of A/V products and accessories since 1947, announced that it will showcase its line of multiple-user, tour guide/assistive listening systems during InfoComm 2011, held in Orlando, Fla. from June 15-17 at the Orange County Convention Center, Califone booth 4117. The Califone WS-TG10 10-user system and accompanying products will be featured during the show.
“The Assistive Listening System enables users to provide to any number of designated listeners a device to clearly hear the speaker or other amplified audio,” said Tim Ridgway, VP marketing of Califone. “This system provides specific listeners with extra audio support, whether by increased amplification or tailored for a tour group activity, such as those which are led by a guide or docent.”
With up to a 300-foot transmission range from the guide to the listeners, the Tour Group package delivers maximum flexibility. The unique functionality of the WS-series also enables it to be used in houses of worship, for business functions, translation activities, and other settings where mobile audio assistance is needed.
“Unique to this system, and many Califone products, the Assistive Listening System incorporates a volume restriction feature,” added Ridgway. “Under guidelines recommended by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the receiver’s volume can be set not to exceed 85 decibels. Many studies show that extended exposure to high levels of noise can cause irreparable hearing loss, leading Califone to design this system with user safety in mind.”
In smaller areas, the system combats inadequate room acoustics and high levels of ambient noise, thereby increasing engagement. Though kit sizes vary (and are configurable for any size group), the core of the system includes a 900MHz transmitter for the presenter that can be fitted with either a headset or mini condensor mic, and any number of wireless receivers (with connecting headphones) for listeners. The receivers feature dual headphone jacks so one can be shared with a listening partner. This also makes the system helpful for those who need translation support.
In addition, the Califone WS-CK1 Wireless Upgrade Kit can modernize any outdated 700MHz PA speaker (that includes an aux or line in), thus either turning a wired PA system into wireless system and/or raising a wireless system to the now standard/legal 900MHz requirement.
