Optimized Streaming Device Enhances Hotel Guest Room Experience

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., Jan. 20, 2015 –LG Electronics has introduced a new set-top box that will bring the power and convenience of its Pro:Centric Internet-protocol tele-vision (IPTV) platform to even more hotel rooms. Available now, LG’s new hotel set-top box, the Pro:Centric Smart STB-3000, provides advanced smart interactive IPTV functionality as well as a broad range of compatible third party System Integrator appli-cations to RF-only legacy commercial televisions from LG and other brands.

The STB-3000 supports the same HTML5 development environment and Application Program Interface as LG’s Pro:Centric Smart IPTVs, so that the same third-party appli-cations developed by LG’s System Integrators partners can also operate on the set top box.

“The LG STB-3000 introduces a solution that addresses the needs of the hospitality in-dustry, allowing guests to utilize embedded applications and to stream media from smart devices to the in-room TV,” said Richard Lewis, vice president of B2B research and technology for LG Electronics USA. “LG is already a pioneer in the hospitality sec-tor with the Pro:Centric TV platform, and now with the STB-3000, more hotels have an opportunity to enhance their guest experience without replacing all their in-room TVs.”

The LG STB-3000 comes complete with brand new updates that optimize the user expe-rience including:

- An enhanced Pro:Centric platform which supports multi-threading, so that mul-tiple applications can be run simultaneously.

- Bluetooth® functionality that allows users to connect personal devices to stream music.

- Access to an expanded list of SMART applications, including Over The Top video services, and games.

With an EZManager setup, the process is simplified with a “wizard” approach that walks the hotelier through simple manual set-up steps. Once completed, this setup can be cloned and easily deployed to other units using USB or automatically with a Pro:Centric head end server.
