NEWARK, NJ (June 30, 2014) – The Bronx’s thriving El Amanecer de la Esperanza (The Dawn of Hope) Ministry has recently upgraded video production with the addition of four AJ-PX270 camcorders, Panasonic’s first P2 HD handhelds with AVC-ULTRA recording.
The new camcorders are being used in full studio configuration for live broadcasts of several weekly services on the church’s web site (www.elamanecer.org), as well as on several international television stations. El Amanecer also utilizes the PX270s on a live half-hour broadcast carried daily on Alerta TV, Verizon FiOS’ channel 463. The cameras are used to record services for residual use, including editing pastoral sermons and posting them to the website.
Prior to installing the PX270s this spring, El Amanecer had been working with aging, full-sized analog studio cameras. “The quality/price ratio with the PX270s was incredibly persuasive,” said Marcos Sebastian, Associate Pastor / Technical Director. “Essentially, we were able to realize an upgrade to HD telecasts with full broadcast-quality cameras at a quarter of the price of our former system.”
“We’ve been working with the PX270s for two months now, and we’re extremely happy,” he continued. “We achieve great image quality with minimal lighting in our sanctuary. We like the long, extended 22X zoom lens, and rely on the breadth of professional interfaces, including HD/SD-SDI, and the 3G-SDI out to support 1080 60p video output.”
Sebastian explained that, during services, three PX270s are static on tripods in the sanctuary, while the fourth is used shoulder-mounted, for roving shots. Editing for web segments is done in Final Cut Pro X.
