Muskego Lakes Middle School and Rush University Recognized for their Innovative Construction Projects which Featured Epson Products
Posted on Thursday, August 22, 2019

Epson, the number-one projector manufacturer in the world1, recognizes two of its customers – Rush University in Chicago and Muskego-Norway School District in Wisconsin – who were named winners in the School Planning & Management/College Planning & Management 2019 Education Design Showcase. They were recognized for their innovative construction projects, both of which feature Epson projection display technology.

  • Rush University’s Active Learning Renovation project was recognized as Project of Distinction in the Showcase. The University partnered with DKA architectural firm for the $6.5-million, 10,000-square-foot renovation in which it converted an outdated space in an existing campus building into a highly dynamic, technology-rich, collaborative learning environment to better prepare students for the healthcare field. The Education Design Showcase highlighted the technologies included in the project, including the Epson Pro L1100UNL large venue laser projectors, which the project design team selected because of their ability to provide bright, sharp images without the use of blackout shades.

  • The Muskego-Norway School District’s newly constructed Muskego Lakes Middle School, which uses Epson’s BrightLink® interactive displays in all of its classrooms, earned Honorable Mention – one of the Education Design Showcase’s highest honors.

The district partnered with Bray Architects to design the new 136,836 square-foot middle school which includes a two-story academic wing organizing grades five through eight into “neighborhoods” to facilitate collaboration, group work and project-based learning. Each classroom has an Epson BrightLink interactive display which transforms any flat surface such as existing whiteboards, plain walls, and tables into an up to 100-inch interactive workspace. The school also features technical education classrooms – large spaces that act as hubs of learning, and a 900-foot “Phab Lab” makerspace.

The Education Design Showcase was established in 1999 to recognize innovative yet practical solutions in higher education and K-12 planning, design and construction.

“Both Rush University and the Muskego-Norway School District have worked hard to provide innovative, active learning environments for students,” said Jason Meyer, group product manager, Projectors, Epson America, Inc. “It is impressive to see them being recognized in the Education Design Showcase.”
